Playoff Wins for Capitals, Bruins and Kings
The Capitals scored four times in the second period of a 5-1 win over the Canadiens. Boston edged Buffalo, 2-1. The Kings outscored the Canucks, 5-3, in Los Angeles Monday night.

NHL Playoffs: Coyotes, Flyers, Penguins Win
The Flyers beat the Devils in overtime, 3-2, on Dan Carcillo's goal Sunday. Sidney Crosby had a goal as Pittsburgh defeated Ottawa, 4-2. Phoenix, Chicago and Colorado also recorded victories.

Sabres, Canadiens, Canucks Win Playoff Openers
Montreal surprised Washington, 3-2, in overtime Thursday night in game one of their playoff series. The Sabres topped the Bruins, while Vancouver scored an overtime victory at home over Los Angeles.

NHL Players' Union Approves New Head Shot Ban
Blindside hits to the head are out in the NHL as the executive board of the players' union voted Thursday to accept a new temporary rule that bans hits to the head against unsuspecting players. The decision takes effect immediately.

Brodeur Sets NHL Shutout Mark in Win Over Penguins
Devils goalie Martin Brodeur broke the NHL record with his 104th career shutout Monday night. Brodeur made 35 saves to break the coveted shutout record held by Terry Sawchuk. Brodeur is the NHL's winningest goalie with 580 wins.

Brodeur Ties Sawchuk With 103rd Career Shutout
Devils goalie Martin Brodeur tied Terry Sawchuk's NHL record with his 103rd shutout Monday, leading New Jersey to a 3-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. Brodeur is the NHL's winningest goalie.
